Auslogics Disk Defrag

By now, most of us have heard of "defragging your hard drive". For those that haven't, or that are not sure what it means, here's a definition:

defragment - A fragmented file or folder is split up into many pieces and scattered over the storage capacity on your hard drive. This means that it takes a lot longer to load and process files. A regular defragment will ensure that files are stored more logically and will help speed up processes.

Defragmenting (or "defragging") will organize your hard drive to run quickly and more efficiently. Most versions of windows come with a defragging program. However, its not the quickest or best way to go about it. Enter Auslogics Disk Defrag. It is a FREE program that will defrag your hard drive quickly and efficiently. One of the best features of this program that I like is that you can continue to use your computer while the defrag process runs in the background.
It is very simple to use. Just choose your hard drive from the list at the top, click "Defrag" and away it goes. My first pass took 30 mins, and that was the first defrag for my hard drive in ages. I continued to surf the net, checking my email and my favorite sites while Defrag chugged away in the background with no problems.
You can download the program here at download.com.

  1. For your computer to run smoothly, you should preferably defragment your hard disk once a month.
